April 2022

Happy April Fool’s Day! Or as my grandmother used to call it, “Jody’s second birthday.”
Now I will be the first to admit that I have acted foolishly in the past. And while I have been foolish in my actions; I never thought of myself as a fool.
Proverbs 23:7 – “For as a man thinks in his heart, so he is.”
Being a fool begins with what we think of ourselves from within the heart. And the Bible is quick to inform us what a fool is.
Psalms 14:1 – “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’”
A fool will say, “There is no God.” And then trust and depend in himself alone.
It may be true that the smartest people in the world are fools in God’s eyes.
But, if you are a believer in God through Jesus Christ, then you are not a fool. You have made the conscience choice and made the vital decision that will affect your eternity, as you have called Jesus, “Lord.”
If every decision you make from this time on is foolish, at least you got the most important thing right!
Proverbs 9:10 – “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.”
Wiser people than I have said, “When you believe there is a God and you reverence, honor and respect Him, then you are counted among the wise.”
And when we dedicate ourselves daily to growing in the knowledge of God through His Word, we will grow even more wise.
So here we are in April of 2022 getting ready to celebrate the holy season of Easter. It is an amazing story of death and resurrection that the wisest men and women will not believe, because they trust their heart and have no fear of God.
This is a season to ponder in our heart who we will be. We can be a fool who says there is no God, or a wise man or woman who trusts in the Lord.
I have done foolish things, but I am not a fool. I trust in the Lord.
And the Bible has a name for me… “Wise.”
That’s what I think anyway…
