Many Ways to Jesus
Matthew 2:13 – “And after being warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the wise men left for their own country by another way.”
We are all familiar with the Christmas story of the three wise men who gave gifts to Jesus as a baby.
The three wise men had seen the Star of Bethlehem and so they traveled from the east to see Jesus. But after they had given their gifts to Jesus and His mother, they were warned in a dream to return to their own country in another way.
You could come from the east; from a different country and find Jesus, and you could go home a different way than you had come.
It seems to me that there are a lot of diverse ways to come to Jesus.
Matthew 11:28 – Jesus said, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”
You could be weary and heavy-laden and come to Jesus.
Luke 19:10 – “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
You could be lost and still find your way to Jesus.
John 3:1 – “Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; this man came to Jesus at night.”
You could come to Jesus even at night.
You could be a sinner and come to Jesus, or a blind man and come to Jesus, and you could even get out of the boat and walk on the water and come to Jesus.
There are a lot of different ways to come to Jesus that are recorded for us in the Bible.
While there are a lot of ways to come to Jesus, there is only one way to come to God the Father.
John 14:6 – “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Jesus had to come to earth because it is Jesus who makes it possible for us to come to the Father.
That is what I think anyway.
Merry Christmas
