Smiling Back at God
How much does a smile cost?
If you smile too many times in a day, will you run out of smiles tomorrow?
Do you like it when others share a smile with you?
A smile is the part of any foreign language that has no sound at all, and the smile is quickly and effortlessly translated into our own language.
The idea that God is smiling on His people is as old as Scripture itself.
Numbers 6:24-26 – “The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD cause His face to shine on you and be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His face to you and give you peace.”
Some people would remind us that when God’s face shines on us, it is really the LORD smiling at us. And the thought of God smiling at us should bring us a certain measure of joy.
Despite what some might think, God is not mad at us. He might not be happy about certain things that are going on in the world, but He is not mad at us… in fact He is smiling at us.
Did you know smiles can be considered to be contagious? Smiling has the power to change our mood and the moods of others. Humans are hardwired to mimic the expressions of others. So, it is scientifically proven that smiles are contagious!
Don’t you feel just a little better about the day when someone smiles at you? It could be the cashier at the store, the neighbor you pass on the sidewalk, who, by their smile could change our day.
It has been reported that people can perceive a smile from 300 feet away. That makes smiling the most recognizable human expression.
I can tell you from experience that the men and women at Lincoln Community Church know the value of a smile.
They learned it from their heavenly Father.
That is what I think anyway.
