February 2021

The Best Things About February

We have already given way to January and are on our way to 2021 full steam ahead! But before we rush past February, I thought we could look at some of the best things about this month.
The Welsh have a memorable name for February; they call it “Little Month” because it is the shortest month of the year, making February special.
Easter is not until April, but Easter candy is already on the shelves at the store in February.
There are great holidays to celebrate in February; Ground Hogs Day, Super Bowl Sunday, Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Presidents Day, and Ash Wednesday. These holidays make February Special.
But why is February special at Lincoln Hills Community Church in 2021? It is because the year is still new and full of possibilities for us!
Last year we took February for granted because everything changed in March, and for the rest of the year, every month was something new, and we did not take any month for granted after that. But now, something is different.
February is the last month of winter, which means that Spring is right around the corner, which makes February special. We should be looking ahead to all the great new things February has to offer us.
In the book of Ezekiel, God promises to give us a new heart and a new spirit. In Isaiah, He vows to renew our strength. In Philippians, Paul tells us to forget what is behind and reach forward to what lies ahead.
We have a God of new beginnings, a God of hope and life, and we should be using the wonderful month of February to be looking ahead.
We have a new attitude and a new self that God has given us. There are a lot of great things about February.
That is what I think anyway.
