Back to Church
Psalms 122:1 – “I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.”
David described his emotions when his neighbors beckoned him to join them on their way to the House of the Lord.
When David had the opportunity to come into the House of the Lord, he was happy and thankful. David was full of rejoicing; he was grateful and delighted about coming to the House of the Lord!
And these feelings are just the opposite of what the Christian in America has felt over the last 12 months. When we could not come into the House of the Lord, we were sad, frustrated, sorrowful, and disappointed.
But now, something is different, we are saying to the congregation, “Let us come to the house of the LORD!”
In the House of the Lord, there is a special joy because the Word of the Lord is proclaimed; our brothers and sisters are there to encourage and strengthen us.
When we come into the House of the Lord, we delight in the music and the singing, and we thrive on the fellowship because fellowship in the House of the Lord is like no other place on earth.
And while we are privately happy when we come into the House of the Lord, how much greater is this private joy when we can share it with friends and family?
This month, when our feet are able, once again, to stand in the sanctuary during times of solemn worship and then enter into the Christian fellowship of the foyer and see the faces that we have missed for a year, our hearts will do a back-flip of joy!
And I am aware that not everyone will be back to the House of the Lord this first month. We fully understand and will not rush anyone. However, we will look forward with heartwarming anticipation when we are all able to meet as one body in one Spirit, celebrating one Lord and one God and Father of all who is over all.
That is what I think anyway.
