FALL AND A NO STUMBLE CHURCH
Fall has come at last. We have survived a long, hot, smoky, roller coaster ride of a summer. I always look forward to the fall. It is my favorite time of year. But this is a fall I especially appreciate. It is because of that word “fall.” With all that we have had to adjust to, we as a church have not fallen. Let me explain. When all of this started I honestly wondered how we would continue to do meaningful ministry. As the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Philippi, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Phil 1:6). God is far from finished with LHCC. As our entire church staff has continued to plan and present worship services each week, you have responded with encouragement and consistent thanks. You have no way of knowing how much that has inspired us. Our church’s giving has been amazing, which is testimony to your faithfulness to God’s kingdom. Last week I watched as our Women’s Ministry raised several thousand dollars to help the Lincoln Police Department purchase some much needed equipment that was beyond their budget. We wanted to say thank you for your service and from the Chief of Police down to the officer on a beat, they thanked us vigorously. This week, September 21-25, I have watched our people bring sack upon sack of groceries to be distributed to the Butte County fire victims. Throughout these long months, our church has not only been faithful in giving to our church’s operational needs but incredible generosity has been demonstrated to our missionaries, especially to the India Widows. What all of this has said to me is that we are more than alive and well, we are ALIVE IN THE SPIRIT. We are what the community of Christ is supposed to be. Our Lord told us that in the world we would have tribulation (John 16:33). But we took his counsel. We are of good cheer because along with Jesus, we can overcome the world, and the virus, and lockdown, and isolation. Jesus continues to build his church and the gates of hell will not prevail. I speak for myself, Pastor Jody, our Elders and all of our church staff when I say thank you for allowing us to be a part of such an amazing church.
